OnePlus, the Chinese brand, taking the invite system to new heights, is now planning to enter the mid-range market. OnePlus X is expected to be released in China, next month.
Until now, OnePlus brand meant only high-end smartphones at an affordable price. But, now the giants are targeting the mid-range segment.
The new smartphone, OnePlux X, is due for a release in the next month and will carry a 5-inch HD screen. It will also come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor. According to the sources, the new smartphone will be priced sub 20K INR and is mainly targeted at the mid-range segment.
The design of the smartphone will see a change. Also, the new smartphone will see USB Type-C port, fingerprint scanner, dual rear camera setup and enhanced grills for the speakers. With no official words, the information should be taken with a grain of salt as changes can happen anytime. The price, on the other hand, is rumored to be around $250, which equates to an amazing 16000 INR.
With this price, the smartphone can easily attract the low-mid range segment and increase market capture for the OnePlus brand. The smartphone is in competition with Motorola Moto X Play, Xiaomi Mi4, and others mid-range market smartphones.
OnePlus releases one flagship smartphone each year. With the OnePlus Two out, it is high time for the OnePlus to target the mid-range market.
Vikas Agarwal, the general manager of OnePlus India offered some valuable information regarding the new set in the ET Tech Interview.
“We’re introducing a new device by the end of this year. Diwali would be the ideal time, but next quarter for sure. It would be a global launch, but India will be the biggest focus.”
